Fort Pitt Block House

Performed structural evaluation for the restoration and preservation of Pittsburgh’s oldest authenticated structure.  Through the use of radiographic imaging that was confirmed by visual observation and sounding techniques, TSE mapped internal wood damage and identified specific repair areas that required restoration.  TSE then designed the wood repairs, which included the use of structural epoxy to fill voids that had developed in the quarter-century old timbers, along with selected wood replacement and restoration of deteriorated mortar in the exterior masonry.  TSE was subsequently asked to assist with restoration and reinforcement of badly deteriorated timbers in the second floor framing system.
